The examples taken in this article are basic but lead to many possibilities that the readers can explore. We use simple techniques of colouring, shading or modifying a polygon to make interesting designs. The triangle tiling is distorted to a tiling of two different tiles.
You can have other tessellations of regular shapes if you use. Now, in Part II, we look at simple ways by which regular tessellations can be modified to make appealing patterns. Triangles, squares and hexagons are the only regular shapes which tessellate by themselves.
